The SLB loves trying out the best that the South of the River has to offer – usually this means trekking around the latest bars and restaurants (harder work than it sounds) but we’re not afraid of some intellectual stimulation as well. As such we were delighted when we were offered the chance to give some language lessons a go! To this end the SLB will be taking part in a course at one of the capitals best language schools – Battersea Spanish.
Voted the UK’s language school of the year by the Latin UK awards, Battersea Spanish on Lavender Hill offers a full range of language courses from beginner to intermediate and advanced. Courses take place throughout the week and are all taught by native Spanish speakers. The next round of courses starts on the 22nd of September so it’s not too late to sign up!
It’s not just about learning the language though, Battersea Spanish are passionate about sharing their love of Latin & Spanish culture through courses and events dedicated to cinema, literature and arts. This includes a Spanish film night on the first Tuesday of every month at Doodle Bar in Battersea. Next up is a screening of Pedro Almodovar’s The Skin I Live In, on October 7th at 7.30pm.
We’ll be starting our learning with a beginner’s course (its been a while since GCSE Spanish ok!) and letting you know how we get on. Given that Spain is such an interesting and beautiful place to visit and that Spanish is the third most spoken language in the world it’s clear that it would make a very handy second language – so take inspiration from us and give it a go!
