Birdies Crazy Golf

I love crazy golf – it has become a bit of a ‘thing to do’ whenever my boyfriend and I are enjoying a break on the British seaside. We’ve played Jurassic Golf on the Isle of Wight, Pirate Golf in Weston-Super-Mare and at several other crazy (and not so crazy) courses around the UK. Needless to say I was more than excited to hear that Birdies Crazy Golf Club was opening at The Vaults in Waterloo.Birdies Crazy Golf Waterloo

The custom-made 9-hole golf course is a challenge… and I don’t think that’s just for people of my handicap either! Every hole was different and each had a little twist. There’s a hole with a 5 foot drop into it, half pipes, loops and one where you have the chance to gain or lose extra points. If you like the quiet side of competitive golf, this probably isn’t the place for you – there’s an awesome line up of DJs in residence.

Like every good golf course, Birdies comes complete with clubhouse Caddyshack serving some delicious cocktails. Mixology experts Spirited Mixers have created the menu and with names like Tiger’s Wood and Golfbuster. You can even add a cute Polaroid picture to the rim of your glass for £1 extra.Birdies Crazy Golf Club

After all this golfing you’re probably going to feel a bit hungry, right?! Lucky for you there are a couple of yummy options available. My favourite was definitely from Rockadollar Dog, the pop-up from Richard Sandiford (Head Chef of Hawksmoor Knightsbridge) – there is definitely something moreish about the kewpie mayonnaise used on that! Almost as nice, is the roast chicken sandwich offered by Hixter.

If you’re also a fan of brunch then you can combine this with your love of golf and book the brunch menu at Birdies every weekend from noon till 2pm. For £25 you can have a round of golf, two cocktails and a brunch-waffle!

Unfortunately there’s not much time left to go and swing your clubs as Birdies is due to close on the 23rd December and tickets are selling fast. If you’d like to book a Tee Time or a Tunnel Pass (no golf) then check their availability online.
