South Social focuses its lens on celebrating South London and it’s great venues. The free fundraiser will take place in the unique Copeland Park, Peckham; an eclectic setting to match an individual festival. The fundraiser will showcase a selection of short films from around the globe, highlighting various social issues through the diverse and electrifying medium of film, as well as presenting some directorial firsts.
Featuring independent film from a diverse range of filmmakers, South Social Film explores wide reaching subjects and issues. In a world entirely visual, and coupled with the disturbing images of human loss and migration we’ve been seeing over the last weeks, this festival is more relevant than ever in showcasing people’s diversities and qualities. From films made by women, for everyone, to films exploring LGBT loves and lives, via Indonesia and their progressive cinema that mirrors an advancing country, South Social Film has individuality at its very core.
Working directly with directors and distributors, and independent caterers and musicians for the screening entertainment, South Social Film Festival is as raw an independent cinema experience you can imagine. This November will see the first edition of the festival (dates/venues TBC); the first of many to come. Hoping to raise as much awareness as possible of the festival, its ethos, and independent cinema in general. All are invited along, watch some breathtaking short films, have a drink, grab a bite, and meet the team.
