Heart Streatham have been in touch to tell us all about their local film festival;
Streatham’s first ever Free Film Festival runs from the 17th-20th September and takes place in a whole host of locations across the area. Enjoy family favourites, vintage movies, new releases, future classics, shorts and film-related fun in venues all over Streatham.
Here’s a pick of some of the best;
THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 17th
The White Lion 7.30pm 48hr Film Competition Screening
The Streatham No-One Knows- 48hr Film Competition winners announced. Come along and see Streatham’s budding Spielbergs and Copollas!
The Bull 8pm Blazing Saddles – OUTDOOR SCREENING
Ultimate Western spoof –crass & downright hilarious! Gene Wilder & Mel Brookes provide the funnies.
The Standard 8pm Film Quiz
Think you know all about film? Prove it in this fun quiz. Interactive rounds, film themed bingo, play the Oscars right and physical challenges.
FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 18th
Turnstyle Records 7.30pm Cinema ParaDISCO
An evening of movie-related music. Bring 2 or 3 of your own tracks on vinyl, CD or mp3 – soundtracks, movie stars trying to sing- anything goes! Bar and quiz with prizes from the Turnstyle vaults.
Streatham Library 7pm for 7.30 – Searching For the Sugar Man
Rodriguez, a South American ’70s musician who was big hit in South Africa was believed dead. That’s until he’s tracked down by two fans…
Beacon Bingo Hall 9.45pm Dracula + Secret screening
Bela Lugosi stars in the 1931 original Dracula. 20 years later he trod the boards at this very theatre recreating the movie live. Double bill feature followed by a very modern vampire future classic. Bar closes 11.30pm screening ends 12.45am.
ilili Restaurant downstairs 3pm Talk – How to get your film to Cannes
For all budding filmmakers; local director and producer Brian Franklin shares his secrets for getting your film to the world famous festival on a shoestring budget.
Streatham Tate Library, 2.30pm Sing-a-Long Frozen
Disney’s animated epic following the adventures of Anna & Elsa comes with extra fun in this sing-a-long version.
The British Home 8pm Dirty Dancing OUTDOOR SCREENING
We’ll all be doing the pachanga with Baby & Johnny reliving that magical end of summer experience. Dress up encouraged. Bring cushions & blankets & picnics. Food & drink also on sale. If it rains we’ll be in the theatre space.
SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 20th
The Hideaway 8pm Amy
