Fowl Mouths at The King & Co

Think you know Japanese food? Think again. Fowl Mouths’ Melissa is sharing her love for Japanese comfort food which is more fried chicken than raw fish.  Having eaten her way around Japan discovering the delicious cuisine a supperclub sharing her discoveries was launched in 2014.

There’s now the chance to try Fowl Mouths food at the wonderful Clapham pub The King & Co, as they’re popping up until the 6th March.  Food will be served 5-10pm throughout the week with the addition of brunch at the weekend starting from 12.

Expect some seriously tasty and more-ish food, which really is the perfect antidote to this miserable weather. Top of my list was the kara-age chicken with wasabi coleslaw, enhanced by the juicy thighs used in this dish and served with steamed rice. The soy, ginger, mirin and garlic marinade covering some of my favourite flavours.  The ponzu steak is another must try, as are the teriyaki chicken wings.

It’s also worth noting that the meat used is all rare-breed and free-range supplied by The Butcher’s Block. There’s also tasty options on the menu for vegetarians with tofu katsu curry, vegetable gyozas and pumpkin korroke scotch egg all featuring.

So head to The King & Co between now and 6th March to try out this soulful Japanese food.
