This neighbourhood Italian does a good job of serving great pizza to hungry locals. Operating as both a sit in restaurant and takeaway, numerous pizza lovers were popping in to collect theirs during our visit. No doubt it’s convenient location, close to Balham station, helping this.
We started with a mixed anti pasti board, which was a great appetizer consisting of a mixture of cheese, cured meats and chargrilled vegetables.
With over 15 pizzas on the menu, there’s something to suit all tastes. We decided to share half and half so went for one slightly left field option – The Patatine which counts thinly sliced potato as one of it’s toppings alongside chorizo and mozzarella. The safer bet was a personal favourite, with Parma ham, rocket and shaved parmesan. Pizzas are cooked in the wood fired oven, and as you’d expect from the name, are the traditional thin based Italian style.
Pizzas are the star of the show here but there’s a couple of extra options with salads, lasagne and baked aubergine all featuring on the menu.
If you’re a Balham pizza fan, this is worth a visit for a casual, no frills meal. No bookings taken, but you can wait at the bar.
