Antic’s Crystal Palace outpost, which opened last year, is now serving food – we’ve sampled and it’s a winner!
We were invited along to an evening for local businesses and twitterers to sample a range of the dishes now being served. It was my first visit to Walker Briggs – though I’ve long been a fan of the Antic chain, with favorites being Pratts and Payne in Streatham and Balham Bowls club.
Walker Briggs maintains the charm we’ve come to know and love from Antic, with shabby chic furnishings, exposed brick and patterned wallpaper.
Now the kitchens opened, there’s even more reason to give it a visit. The menu highlight for me was the wild mushroom risotto with truffle oil. From the smaller plates and sharing menus the Ratte Potatoes, Courgettes, Mint & Gem and the Cornish Yarg Cheese Puffs were both solid choices. Great to see a good selection of vegetarian options on the menu – which is often rare in pubs – highly recommend trying the chickpea stew. And with all mains at under £11, it’s good value to boot.
WB also serve brunch, and there’s live music twice a month. A great addition to the CP triangle.
