Peyton & Byrne is the relative new kid on the block in Greenwich having only opened a few months ago slap bang on the high street, but from the early morning Sunday bustle that greeted SLB it was clear that it has already staked itself a reputation with the locals.
This is the latest in a chain of bakeries being rolled out across London from the renowned restaurateur Oliver Peyton, offering healthy but hearty breakfast and lunchtime options, all of which are freshly baked and prepared on the premises. The bakery also has a warm and welcoming café space for those eating-in, decorated in modern British design and equipped with friendly and attentive staff.
SLB went with the avocado and tomato salsa on the homemade artisan bread, along with the breakfast muffin filled with pumpkin seeds, apple, sultanas carrot and courgette – both of which were absolutely delicious and relatively guilt-free. The build your own muesli and porridge breakfasts are alternative popular options and are also available to take-away. To make up for the lack of breakfast calories consumed, the salted caramel and chocolate cake and victoria sponge were then washed down with some freshly ground coffee and earl grey tea.
With a strong selection of sandwiches and seasonal salads also on offer, Peyton & Byrne bakery provides an option for a great fuelling stop before, or a hard-earned rest following a visit to Greenwich market and the surrounding shops.
South London Blog was invited along to Peyton & Byrne’s new bakery in Greenwich for a breakfast bite.
