Tooting’s star continues to be on the rise with yet another great restaurant opening, just a stone’s throw from Broadway tube and directly opposite The Chicken Shop. The team that brought Tooting the appropriately named Little Bar have now tried their hand at a restaurant which is not quite so little by nature but still Little in name.
The Little Taperia is everything you’d want from a local tapas joint. Well priced, friendly staff, great food from a menu which covers both tapas staples and more unique dishes. Highlights include the pork skewers with a chimichuri sauce, rice with prawns and cuttlefish as well as the ham and cheese croquettes.
There’s seating up at the marble bar for an authentic spanish experience, as well as outside in a small covered side passage, in addition to the regular tables in the bar area and out back by the open kitchen.
The Little Taperia doesn’t take bookings, and advise getting there before 7pm to avoid queuing. It’s busy throughout the week so Tooting residents are clearly still keeping it local, and with the quality of venues to choose from, who can blame them.
