Many a commuter will be pleased by the return of The Firestation in Waterloo, which had been closed for refurbishment for a year. Ideally located next to Waterloo Station and near the Old Vic, it’s the ultimate handy meeting place. Not only is it convenient though, it’s had a fabulous refurb and is serving a small but perfectly formed menu of wood fired pizzas and delicious burgers. Breakfast and Caravan coffee will be served in the morning as well.
Highlights of the new menu include the sweet potato fries, the pizza base which will be a winner with any topping and, though not for everyone, the black and gold burger, which contains Black Pudding, is a top choice for many.
For those looking for refreshment, the drinks list won’t disappoint. There are three cocktails containing spirits which are smoked in house. Cocktails of the unsmoked variety include the oh so drinkable Pear Fizz which contains Absolut Pear Vodka, pear purée, lemon juice, sugar syrup and is topped up with Prosecco. Wine starts at £18/bottle and for lovers of beer you’ll find both Meantime and Sambrooks on offer, plus a variety available by the can including Beavertown and Brooklyn Summer Ale.
The Firestation is open now.
