There was talk of a re-location for SLB Towers, so Team SLB decided on the recently refurbished Rosendale for a get-together after the viewing. Pubs and bars are few and far between in any part of Dulwich other than East; the Rosendale stands out like an oasis in the desert then, and provides thirsty and hungry locals with a friendly welcome.
The exterior at the front has been nicely done up with a new decking and seating area, while the garden at the rear is a pleasant place to sit in warmer weather. The interior retains its traditional feel with plenty of room for drinking and dining.
After a few drinks the conversation was flowing and we decided to try some food as it looked pretty good. One of us went for a meaty pizza, two for the stuffed peppers, one lamb special and one steak and ale pie. The pie was magnificent, so much so the pie-eater couldn’t wait for the photo – see below! The stuffed peppers (vegetarian) were very tasty, as was the lamb special, while the pizza satisfied the hungriest of our group. Our food bill came to a very reasonable £65 – excellent value!
We hadn’t intended to do a write-up on this place, but after sampling the food we thought it deserved our recommendation – it’s a really good neighbourhood pub serving great food at very reasonable prices. There’s plenty of beers and wines to satisfy every taste, including local brews from Brixton and Gipsy Hill. The Rosendale could well become the new watering hole for South London Blog if it moves to close-by West Norwood, and hopefully it will provide us with the inspiration for untold future articles!
