Crosswires Festival is a unique, eclectic all-dayer event at the Amersham Arms, nested firmly in New Cross, Lewisham, the area which the event seeks to promote as a cultural hot spot.
Taking place on Saturday 3rd October, with tickets starting at just £4, it has a killer line-up including 47SOUL – a unique band that fuses Palestinian music with a rhythm carnival, followed by one of the most exciting new Peckham-based DJs hailing from his own Rhythm Section International; NTS Radio’s Bradley Zero. Throughout the day there will be some amazing local talent like cosmodelic afro-funksters United Vibrations and Italian folk band with a twist Terra Viva.
During the the day there will also be a body percussion workshop led by Brazilian musician Alba Cabral, where audiences will learn how to use just their body to make rhythmically complex music.
The festival, now in its second year, was conceived in the tradition of John Peel’s radio shows: a feast of unpredictable, yet wondrous music. With support from Lewisham Council, this festival is made possible and is the reason its so affordable, so why not get yourselves along?
